Hi, ho, it's off to the farm we go
Remy, along with his cute little monkey noises, and I are off to the farm for a looooong weekend. I'll see you all back here on Tuesday, and, all going well, I will have some very cute little frocks to show off.

Hel yes
I don't know where I got the link for Hel Looks from, but by god I love it. The site is about celebrating people who have their own distinctive style, those who don't slavishly follow the latest trends. While I'll always have more admiration for people who branch out a little with their style than those who need Cleo to tell them what shoes to buy,I still like to play a game I call Hel Yes and Hel No. For example:
Hel Yes:
Hel No:
Go ahead, play too. It's jolly good fun.

Just give that boy a fire truck already
We've had an exciting development in our house - Remy has said his first words! So far his vocab includes hullo, yum, no and duck. I'm just so proud!
Steam is my style
I'm continually surprised and delighted by just how friendly and generous the people in this town are.
Yesterday morning I popped into Steam, by far the best little cafe in town, and brazenly hit up the owner for some coffee bean sacks so that I can make some cushions. To my astonishment, she not only gave me two sacks but she called Remy cute and raved about how darling Jules is.
I could get used to this kind of treatment!

And the winner is....
Tash! Congratulations! Email me your address and I'll pop the fabric in the post.
Keep your eyes peeled for another giveaway soon. I'm almost at my 200th post and I'd like to celebrate with you all!
(BTW, Remy wasn't able to choose the winner this time. He had a very important appointment with bed before I remembered that I needed to find the winner. Instead, Jules chose the number 4).

Tra la la in the garden
One of the reasons we moved to the country was to have room for a lovely, big veggie garden, and over the past few days (with the help of my parents), I've dug a huge patch all ready for veggies, herbs and edible flowers. I've been online looking for gorgeous heirloom seed varieties and I've pretty much been talking non-stop about the garden. I was even in the garden today when it was bloody well SNOWING.
The patch is pretty big. I got a bit carried away... so it's definitely a two-person job to sow and maintain.
I love Jules all the way through to my bones. I really do. But there are some things I wish I'd known about him before we packed up our whole lives and moved down here.
Like, I wish I'd known earlier that he doesn't like dirt. Doesn't like touching it, doesn't like that I touch it, doesn't like the fact that the vegetables he eats once touched it. That's right; the man can't stand DIRT.

Goodness gracious
Um... oh dear... I think I might have made a little mistake in the way I described the prize...
The photo at the bottom of the post shows the prize - two pieces of fabric that were cut out and intended to be used in the little girl's dress (the one in the top photo) but that I couldn't use because of problems in the fabric.
I hope I haven't got everyone's hopes up that the prize is a dress...

The woman has a problem
At this blog, I do my very best to appear in control, sane, normal if you like.
But the horrible truth is about to raise its ugly head; you see, I'm a woman obsessed. Totally and utterly obsessed.
I can't help it, everywhere I go I see them, I want them. I dream of finding piles of them in op shops. I'm especially obsessed by hunting vintage glass ones.
Oh buttons, how can I resist your siren song when some of you look like this:

Oopsy daisy, for sale, and a prize
Very sorry about the break in transmission folks - I dropped the laptop and put it out of order for a week. Oops.
But there has been some crafting in the meantime. One of the things I've made is a little frock (sized for a three or four year old)from some of my precious vintage stash:
I have a thing about lining practically everything I make so that no one can see my workings. In this dress, there is a little dress on the inside. The skirt is lawn. Mmmm, lawn.
When I was cutting out this dress I realised that there are some small patches of wear and some little marks of mold on the fabric. As a result, I have these two pieces that, even though they only have small problems with them, I can't use because I'm very, very fussy... The great news for you is that you could win them both! Just leave me a comment before Monday night and Remy will choose a winner on Tuesday.
