Wow. Finally. This is my last day of full-time, in-an-office work. Well, for a (good, long) while at least.
And Jules is going back to work.
Look at us living the traditional family working/caring arrangements dream. I really thought we'd be able to turn it upside-down and for it to work well, but no, it's not for us.
And I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to be at home again with my darling little boy. I can't wait to run around the garden being chased by an 18 month old manic weilding a hose; to snuggle on the sofa watching In the Night Garden; to dance like a lunatic to Remy's very favourite music (that currently includes the Black seeds, the White Stripes, and any band that does a decent cover of The Wheels on the Bus).
I know it's not always going to be easy, but man, I can't wait.
A place where lazy bloggers can come and feel better about themselves. The rest of you are welcome too.

I'm writing this on a new Mac and I never want to stop.
My computer at home is broken. Broken as in making sounds of pain and shutting down the minute it’s switched on. Kaput in other words.
So I’m writing this at work. But not from my usual office. I’m working from our art gallery for the next couple of weeks. It’s bliss over here. I could live in this place. Surrounded by like-minds, surrounded by amazing art (check out Ewan McDougall – man, he ROCKS), surrounded by an historic building. What a place. What an amazing place.
My cell phone has vanished off the face of the planet. I last saw it in the sticky little hands of a crafty little boy. The best I can hope is that he hasn’t buried it in the garden somewhere.
I guess the message of this post is if you can’t get hold of me, it’s because I no longer exist (in cyberspace at least)(and only temporarily. I hope. Oh god, I hope). You could always try me on the home phone or come and visit me. That would be nice.

Update from the Oamaru weather centre
Imagine you are on the sun.
Now imagine you are on the sun wearing clothing suitable for Antarctica.
Feeling hot?
That's how hot it is in Oamaru today.

10: Reactions Remy had to food served this week.
1. I ordered the number 52 - this looks more like number 2s.
2. Really? This is it?
3. Bahahahahahahahaha! Now where's dinner?
4. Where are we? Prison?
5. Yuck. So yuck that I'm going to roll this food out of my mouth very slowly with my tongue, but, don't worry, it'll land on the carpet, not me.
6. When did we land in a boarding school dining hall circa 1993?
7. Oh? This is dinner? I thought I was looking at evidence.
8. Who did you think was coming for dinner? A farm dog?
9. Ok. I've had enough of your nonsense old people. Hand over the icecream.
10. Yummy yummy yummy chippies yummy yummy yummy.

Happy birthday Grandad!
On Friday, my wonderful Grandad turned 80*.
I went up to Nelson for his party on Saturday. I think we can safely say a good time was had by all!
*Hope you don't mind me telling people how old you really are grandad - I know some of the family will be shocked to hear that you're not 21.
